LP4Y PUBLICATIONS

Youth 4 Change Network is a new kind of publisher, the supporter positioning itself as of just causes and the struggles of today; the kind of publisher needed to bring to light the numerous challenges of the 21st century. To achieve this goal Y4CN has brought together a team of writers and professionals willing to offer their services on a voluntary basis. Working to keep economic and distribution constraints to a minimum, Y4CN distributes its publications by any means and at the lowest possible cost, ensuring they reach the largest possible audience.

BAHINI
A three-year quest for a meaningful life

Summary: Being addressed as “Bahini” (little sister) is to me an expression of tenderness, of benevolence, as if I was offered a protective shield. More than a word, it is a symbol of my successful integration, an acknowledgement of my hard work, and a clear sign that I have earned my place here.

In Bahini, Lucie shares the most powerful moments of her three years spent as a volunteer with the Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y) organization , in the heart of slum neighborhoods in Bangalore and Kathmandu. Working for the professional integration of the poorest and most excluded young adults, she experiences the strength and resilience of these forgotten communities.

Lucie revisits her memories, guided by the eight pillars of joy discussed by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu in The Book of Joy (published by Cornerstone, Penguin Random House). Calling on a wealth of true anecdotes, she illustrates these universal values that go beyond the volunteering experience and accompany her as she returns home to France.

A book for anyone interested in taking up a mission, but also for readers seeking meaning and adventure.

The author: Lucie Dubert worked as a volunteer with LP4Y in India and Nepal for three years from 2017 until 2020, first as a Coach in Bangalore in India, then in charge of the Green Village in Nepal.

In her book, Lucie shares with us what she has learned from this experience, what the youth have taught her. By describing their lives, their daily lives, their evolution in the program, Lucie gives them a voice. Here is her story.

SCARRED BY LIFE
Transformations at the Heart of Exclusion

Summary: The streets of Manila are full of Young Adults, aged between 17 and 24, rejected by their families, ex-prisoners, young mothers… They survive by their wits, and each day is a fresh challenge.

Ever since LP4Y started in 2009, volunteers have been coming to live side by side with these Youth and show them that they are not alone, that their destiny isn’t predetermined, and that they can build a life project. Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y) is an NGO working for the professional and social insertion of excluded Young adults. Their program offers “Two years to escape exclusion!”.

Lucie Taurines chose to turn her back on a well-planned business career and the comforts of Western life, to spend three years beside underprivileged Young Adults. In this exciting journal, she recounts her mission, punctuated by tears and laughter, dramatic episodes and successes. An exceptional adventure, full of discoveries and outstanding personalities, in which the author also went through a personal journey of self-discovery.

The author: Lucie Taurines worked as a volunteer with LP4Y in the Philippines for three years from 2013 until 2015, first as a coach with Green Program, then in charge of partnerships, and subsequently as country coordinator. She is now President of LP4Y France.

Her book, written following her 3 years as a volunteer, describes her mission in a nutshell. It is more than just a record; it is an invitation to join an adventure. We accompany Lucie as she takes her flight to Manila and meets Angelo, Reandro, Myla, and many other Youth who have nothing. We observe her daily involvement with excluded Young Adults living in extreme poverty. And she talks candidly about the transformative effect of these encounters, both on her and on the Youth. Let’s hope this book is read by many!

+55 INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
FOR YOUTH INCLUSION

Life Project 4 Youth is a worldwide movement focused on a single goal: the social and professional inclusion of excluded young adults from extreme poverty.

At the heart of LP4Y lies a central observation: too many Youth are left behind, with no decent opportunities to build their lives.

The Youth are our future. We need to create now the conditions that will allow them to face the challenges of today and tomorrow. Youth inclusion is a global issue, affecting everyone. We all have a role to play as “catalysts of change”.
LP4Y supports young adults in their search for stable jobs, decent living conditions, and above all, an existence in which they are truly actors of their own lives. It now has the benefit of 12 years’ experience of action, experimentation and discovery.

The movement’s actions are inspired by the untapped potential of the Youth, and this White Paper presents innovative solutions - practical and field-oriented but also conceptual – that address Youth exclusion by tapping into that potential.

What are these solutions and how do they work?  These are the two main questions the LP4Y teams challenged themselves to answer, seeking to be as concrete as possible.

As a result, LP4Y identified 55+ solutions to support Youth Inclusion!
